Mississippi uses Pearson VUE as its official testing service for delivering licensure exams.

The Mississippi life insurance exam outline contains a total of 60 scored questions. The exam includes four sections:

  1. Types of Policies

  2. Policy Riders, Provisions, Options, and Exclusions

  3. Completing the Application, Underwriting, and Delivering the Policies

  4. Taxes, Retirement, and Other Insurance Concepts

You’ll have 120 minutes to complete the exam. The Mississippi life insurance exam fee is $52

Resident life insurance applicants must submit fingerprints via Live Scan at an authorized IdentoGO center. Fingerprinting should be done after passing the state exam but before applying for State License, as a background check is required.

Steps for Fingerprinting in Mississippi:

  1. Pass the Exam: Complete your pre-licensing education and pass the Mississippi Pearson VUE licensing exam.

  2. Register with IdentoGO: Schedule an appointment at an IdentoGO location via their website. You will need a specific service code provided by the Mississippi Insurance Department.

  3. Complete Live Scan: Visit the center to have your digital fingerprints taken.

  4. Pay Fees: Pay the fingerprinting/background check fee (approx. $48.25) during registration or at the center.

  5. Submit Application: Apply for your license within 1-2 days after your fingerprints are submitted

• Once you pass exam and do Fingerprints, you can apply for MISSISSIPPI license on NIPR.

•Submitting this application will cost $100 (plus a transaction fee)
